Cutcombe
Market - Exmoor National Park
The new livestock market
at Wheddon Cross for Exmoor Livestock Auctions Ltd
opened at the end of August marking the completion
of the first phase of the comprehensive redevelopment
of the former market site.
Work
has now commenced on the housing site that comprises
25 new homes. These include 10 homes that will be
rented to local people by Magna West Somerset Housing
Association [MWS] with 13 open market properties being
developed by Summerfield Homes. The remaining two
plots will be self-build houses.
The re-development of the site
is a partnership between Exmoor Farmers Livestock
Auctions, Exmoor National Park, West Somerset Council,
Somerset County Council, Cutcombe Parish Council,
MWS, Summerfield Developments (South West) and the
Homes and Communities Agency.
Planning permission has now been
granted by Exmoor National Park for the Commercial
Site East. This phase is being developed by Somerset
County Council to provide low cost workspace units
for local businesses. Construction is due to commence
early in 2011. |
