MEET THE
TEAM AT REED HOLLAND ASSOCIATES
RHA comprises four
Chartered Architects (three of whom are Directors),
an Associate Chartered Architect, two experienced
Architectural Technicians and two administrative
support staff. Technical staff experience is set
out below.

Edward Reed BSc (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA
Prior to and since qualifying as an Architect
in 1977, John has gained extensive experience
both in the United Kingdom and overseas
at all stages, on most building types.
Six years in senior
positions with two Local Authorities (Deputy
Chief Technical Officer / Client Architect
at West Somerset District Council), dealing
mainly with all aspects of Local Authority
construction;
|
deputising for
the Chief Officer; often consulting with
the Department of the Environment on all
construction matters, gave a good solid
base upon which to form a private practice.
As sole principal
and later as a director of the practice,
John Reed has personally managed projects
dealing with most building types, including
residential, community, leisure / sports,
educational and commercial / industrial
projects in his 30 years in private practice. |

Richard
Paul Holland BA
(Hons) Dip Arch RIBA
Richard qualified as an Architect in 1976
and has gained extensive experience in the
design, production of construction information,
specification and management of a wide variety
of architectural projects.
He has 8 years experience as a Project Architect
dealing with Local Authority and social
housing projects and also acted as Consultant
Architect to the Planning Department at
Taunton Deane Borough Council,

providing
architectural appraisals and advice on planning
submissions.
Richard has over 27 years experience in
private architectural practice since joining
John Reed in 1983 and forming the partnership
of Reed Holland Associates in 1985. As a
partner, then Director in the practice,
he has designed and managed projects for
most building types including residential,
community, leisure / sport and commercial
/ industrial projects for both public and
private sector clients.
Currently Richard is a member of the Executive
Committee of the Somerset Branch of the
RIBA. |

Jonathan
Richard Scanlan BA (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA
Jonathan
qualified as an Architect in 1988 having
studied at Brighton Polytechnic he joined
the practice in 2004 from PTAL, a Sussex
and Birmingham based practice then 55 strong,
where he was Technical Director.
He has a background in the industrial and
commercial building sector and has been
responsible for the design and construction
of warehouses, |

printing
works, optical manufacturing and “high
tech” assembly plants as well as research
and development facilities.
During his time with PTAL, Jonathan gained
extensive experience of timber frame construction.
This experience lead him to become involved
in the regeneration of Sector 4, St Mary’s
Island at the Historic Naval Dockyards,
Chatham Maritime on the North Kent coast.
Since joining Reed Holland Associates
Jonathan has become a full director of
the company. Jonathan was Chairman of
the Somerset Branch of the RIBA from 2006
to 2008. He is still actively involved
with the Branch and Wessex and South West
Region. In 2009 Jonathan was invited to
sit on the Design Review Panel for Taunton
and Somerset NHS Trust and is closely
involved with plans to build a new surgical
wing.

Phillip Anthony

Phillip joined
the practice in 2007 after spending
10 years working in London on a variety
of projects in the public and private
sector, including considerable experience
in educational projects. He has over
15 years experience working as both
an architectural technologist and architect.

Barry joined the practice in 2005 and has
over 34 years of experience as an Architectural
Technologist, working on a variety of building
types, including residential, community,
leisure and commercial / industrial projects.

in 1981and has over 38 years experience
as an Architectural Technician, working
on a variety of building types, including

CONSULTANT
ARCHITECT
Stephen
David Major BSc (Hons) B Arch MSc (Dist)
MCIOB RIBA
Having studied for a BSc (Hons) in Architecture
and post graduate B Architecture at the
Welsh School of Architecture in Cardiff,
Stephen qualified as a Chartered Architect
(RIBA) in 1986. During a career spent
both in private architectural practice,
and heading in-house architectural teams
for regional and national developers,
he has gained further qualifications as
a Chartered Builder (MCIOB) and a Masters
degree with Distinction in Residential
Development. |
For the past 10 years Stephen has been Director
of Planning and Design for the Gadd Group,
a regional developer and contractor; previously
Head of Architecture for Europe’s
largest construction consultancy, WS Atkins.
Stephen has gained a wide range of experience
in the design and construction of buildings,
including a number of successful PFI schemes.
Recent projects include Master Planning
the extensive Firepool Lock mixed-use town
centre regeneration development in Taunton
and numerous housing estates and apartment
developments. |
