Come and see the plans to
build up to 250 two, three, four and five bedroom high quality
homes, for sale and for affordable housing, at Broadlands,
(north of Canonsgrove Halls of Residence), Honiton Road, Staplehay,
by Taunton farmer Sidney French.

Sidney French explained
“Currently there is a severe
housing shortage in the area and this development will help
local individuals, couples and families needing homes".
“However I want it to make a
real contribution to the wider neighbourhood. So Broadlands
includes a playing field, a building for the scouts, guides
and other local organisations and a community orchard. These
will all be available to the local residents of Staplehay and
Trull as well as to those at Broadlands.”

Reed Holland’s design mixes contemporary and traditional
houses and uses materials reflecting the character of
the area, including slate and thatched roofs. It also
includes a traditional village green, pond, shop and square.
Retaining existing hedging and trees coupled with new
planting and the design of the houses will minimise the
visual impact of the scheme for neighbours. |

are sought to ensure the planning application, to be submitted
later in the year, reflects local residents’ opinions
and respects local needs.
Once local residents have commented on the scheme more detailed
proposals will be prepared with the benefit of the feedback
from the exhibition and responses to the questionnaire. Click
